Woman Saved Baby Elephant’s Life, Now She Follows Her Everywhere

Sometimes a small act of kindness means the whole world for a helpless creature. It is the case of this adorable baby elephant. Moyo was just a few days old when got lost in her herd. Her prospects of survival were exceedingly slim given her circumstances. Despite the odds, Moyo, which means ‘of the heart,’ has triumphed owing to this wonderful woman.

A hyena group approached the small elephant alone, hungry, and terrified. In her desperate attempt to save her life, she, unfortunately, jumped into a flooded river. As a result, her face appeared to be sealed. However, a troop of rangers appeared out of nowhere and pulled her from the sea just in time.

Rangers took Moyo to Wild Is Life sanctuary, whose founder Roxy Danckwerts became the 𝑜𝑟𝑝ℎ𝑎𝑛’𝑠  new mom.

Two years have passed since the tiny one was spared from near death, and circumstances have changed dramatically for her. Her adoptive mother, too! Moyo weighs around 150 pounds and she follows Roxy everywhere. “She knows my voice, my smell, and somehow knows where I am at all times,” the woman said. “How, I have no idea!”

The duo has quickly formed an incredible bond based on mutual love and respect. And now they are inseparable! Though, sometimes Moyo’s energy is turning the house upside down!

Unaware of her increasing girth, little Moyo follows her adopted mom Roxy Danckwerts everywhere she goes despite the fact that she’s growing too big to be inside. Moyo was the first elephant rescued by the sanctuary.

“She is one of those animals with whom I have formed an extraordinary bond of friendship, trust and love,” said Danckwerts. ” Letting go will be hard. However, I am so determined and so sure of this road that I have chosen. I want the best for the elephant children, and that best is freedom to roam and to make their own choices.”
