What to Do When You’re Angry

Everyone has anger from time to time, and understanding it and knowing how to handle it properly is important. Anger begins as a feeling and then manifests itself in words and actions.

You feel something, and it causes you to do or say something. Anger isn’t always a bad thing; but, how you deal with it has a direct impact on your quality of life.

All anger has a huge effect on your daily life. It makes you uncomfortable, makes you feel pressured. Keeping anger inside can even be dangerous to your health. So you have to take responsibility and control about your anger. You need to learn how to deal with and deal with your anger. If you struggle with anger, ask God to help you process it and bring it to closure. You can be bitter or better—the choice is yours!

You’re never going to be happy if you have to have the answers to everything. No matter what’s happening, we need to learn how to manage our emotions and not let them control us.

Don’t look at how big the problem is; look at how big your God is.

Are you angry? Jealous? Worried? Discouraged? Maybe you had a disappointment, something didn’t work out.

Take the time today to write down the problem or problems that are consuming your thoughts. Then take that sheet of paper, crumple it up, and lift it with an open hand toward God. Why? Because you are going to give it to Him. Then throw that sheet of crumpled paper away.

Lift your hand to God the next time that difficulty enters your mind as a reminder to yourself that you are not only offering Him your problem(s), but you are also turning to Him for an answer. Sometimes we need a physical reminder—like lifted palms—to help us let loose of the negative.

Prayer Starter: Father, You know everything about me. I pray that You will assist me in recognizing and dealing with any unresolved anger in my life. Help me to get to the root of the issues and learn to deal with my emotions in a godly way. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
