Topic: Seek God’s Presence
Scripture: Seek God’s face, not His hand…who He is, not just what He can do for you! (See Psalm 27:8)
Message: Scripture states, “God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Notice who God rewards. Not people who half-heartedly seek Him, or only seek Him when they have a problem, or come to church only on special occasions. God rewards people who diligently seek Him.
One of the most important lessons we can learn is to seek God’s face (who He is) and not just His hand (what He can do for us). Learning this is vital to our strength as believers and to our love walk with God.
This was a major lesson for me. I had to learn to enjoy God’s presence, not focus on what He was doing or not doing for me. God, I trust You. I don’t know, maybe this is a test. Maybe you’re stretching me further than I would like to be stretched, but I do know that you love me. And at the right time in the right place, my breakthrough will come. And no person on earth and no devil in hell can keep me from getting it because God is my source. Amen.
The Lord was doing a lot for me, yet I was still dissatisfied. God had established a relationship with me by doing things for me. Now it was time to take a step of maturity by seeking to do His will, not just seeking Him for what He could do for me. I was enjoying God’s provision, but I had not learned simply to enjoy His presence.
I went through a time of testing in which I had to seek the Lord simply for Himself and not for anything He might give me. He once challenged me not to ask Him for one earthly thing again until He told me I could do so. My prayer life has changed since that moment. He is aware of our deepest wishes, and as we pleasure in Him, He will provide them to us, just as He promised in His Word.
This is a new day. God is breathing in your direction right now. He’s going to give you favor that you haven’t had. You’re going to see an anointing of ease where things fall into place.
He is going to make things happen that you couldn’t make happen. He’s going to vindicate you for what wasn’t fair. He’s going to pay you back and take you further than you imagined. He’s preparing a table before you in the presence of your enemies. You may not see how it can happen, but God has ways you’ve never thought of.
Prayer Starter: Father, I pray for every person, and whatever they might be addicted to, whatever bondage they might be having, whatever they feel is stealing their life and is something that they can’t control.
We take authority over it in the name of Jesus. We assert control over narcotics and alcohol, sexual perversion, food problems, and everything else that is out of whack. Even if people are simply hooked to substances such as sugar or food. Anything may become us addicted.
Father, I ask that You will miraculously deliver them. We know You can do that. And if that’s not what You choose to do, God, then we trust You to strengthen them with all might and power in the inner man that Your Holy Spirit would indwell their innermost being and personality, and truly they will be able to do all things through Christ who strengthens them. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
