Ostrich Cuddles Baby Elephants To Make Them Feel Better After Lᴏsing Their Mothers

Jᴏᴛᴛᴏ, a one-month-old young elephant, became away from his herd and fell into a well. After being rescued, the David sheldrick Wildlife Trust placed him in a Kenyan elephant orphanage to recover. He became friends with Pea, an ostrich at the ᴏ orphanage, while he was there.

His rescuers took care of him in hopes of returning him to the wild again, but they had no idea that he would end up joining a friendly ᴏʀᴘʜᴀɴ ostrich and that they would be best friends.

Pea, the ostrich, was rescued while on a mission to sᴀᴠᴇ a young elephant. The orphanage keepers also brought two small ostriches that needed to be cared for. According to Bored Panda, one of the birds named Pod returned to the orphanage after spending time with wild ostriches, while Pea remaned in the orphanage.

Pea chose to stay with the elephants and other animals inside the orphanage. The ostrich appears to consider itself a member of the elephant herd, and it enjoys playing games and going on long walks with its new family, especially with the baby elephant Jotto.

Pea clearly believes she belongs among the elephants rather than the ostriches. Pea became attached to Jotto as soon as she arrived at the shelter. They are often cuddling and shᴏwing affection for one another. Pea may be described as an ostrich who dresses up as an elephant.

“It’s safe to say that the ᴏʀᴘʜᴀɴᴇᴅ ostrich Pea clearly thinks he’s part of the elephant herd, and tiny Jᴏᴛᴛᴏ is more than glad to share a snuggle with his feathered friend,” the rescue center posted on social media. Wonderfully tender moments in the Nairobi kindergarten, where these two orphans and many others can heal and return to nature when they are ready.

Pea adores caring for newborn elephants and frequently provides extensive snuggling and play sessions for them, acting as a dedicated mother to them and wrapping her wings around them.

“While their species may be worlds different, Ostriches Pea and Pod adore playing ‘mother hen’ with newborn elephants,” the rescue organization stated on social media.
