If Joel Osteen wasn’t a pastor, he’d have a great run as a couple’s therapist. The star certainly knows what makes a marriage work. His wife Victoria Osteen has been following in her husband’s footsteps during their 35-year marriage. That’s a long time, and in an interview, he explained that the secret is a sense of humor and respect.
“When you can laugh and you can have joy, that’s very healthy,” he revealed. “Victoria is easy going. She’s very spontaneous and fun. I can hear her laughter all through the house. It sets the tone for the house.”
The pastor continued, saying, “We don’t always agree with each other but we make the decision that we want to treat each other with respect.”
He told to his wife: “Victoria! You are my wife, my best friend, and the love of my life. The day you were born the world was filled with more joy, beauty, compassion, and laughter. You bless everyone who knows you, most of all me. I love you with all of my heart.”
Throughout the course of their marriage, the couple has welcomed two children together, Jonathan and Alexandra. Jonathan, 26, was born in Houston on April 20, 1995.
He has a degree in screenwriting from the University of Texas where he graduated in 2017. However, these days he’s jumping in the family business delivering sermons to youth members at Lakewood Church.
Alexandra, 23, was born on November 9, 1998, and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2020 where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha.
Clearly, Osteen’s approach has worked. Some three decades and two kids later, you’d expect some of the passion to die out, but Victoria said! Mornings with Erica Campbell that she’s still “crazy” about her husband. “I respect him. I honor him. You know, I think that’s what it takes,” she said.
Victoria share on Social Media: “My husband and children are the greatest gifts God has ever given me. They are my life. I love them so much that I’ll do anything for them. In fact, I try to do everything for them! I want to be around them as much as possible. I’d rather spend time hanging out with my family than I would anyone else. My children say to me sometimes, “Mom, you love us too much!”
She added: “Even as much as I love them, if my emotional tank is not filled up, I cannot fill up the emotional tank of my family. I can’t enjoy the gift that God has given me. The Bible says it like this: love your neighbor as you love yourself.”
