God Is Sheer Mercy and Grace

“God is sheer Mercy and Grace; not easily angered … He’s rich in Love. He doesn’t endlessly nag and scold … He doesn’t hold grudges forever. He doesn’t treat us as our sins deserve, nor pay us back in full for our wrong.” — Psalm 103

He still loves you, He still forgives you and you’re still His. God’s mercy is our hope because it is based on who He is in spite of ourselves. It’s an essential thing to believe in God but how cool is it to know that He also believes in you!

When we realize we didn’t do anything to earn God’s grace, we’re humbled to trust God with those around us.

God no longer views us in light of our failures. He views us in light of His Son’s perfect righteousness and He leaves room for redemption. May we view others through this same lens, regardless of their past mistakes.

Because God meets us with undeserved grace, we are also called to extend grace to others. This is easier said than done! While forgiveness doesn’t always lead to reconciliation, it does mean giving control to God and allowing Him to take care of the bigger picture. But even when forgiveness is hard, choosing it has an incredibly freeing impact on our lives.

No matter how you feel or how the days change, God’s presence and love over your life remain the same.

We can wholeheartedly trust His Word when He says He is always with us. God’s loving mercy is our hope because it’s based in who He is in spite of ourselves. His love never changes and nothing can snatch us out of His hand.

You are forever loved, chosen protected and treasured by your creator. He is true to His word and He is true to stick with you through every season of life. You are covered!

This morning God’s grace began afresh over you. Have you given yourself that same grace to start over despite the disappointments of yesterday?

Scripture says that the godly may trip 7 times but they will get up again (Proverbs 24:16). That means our victory is not in how perfect we measure up, but in our daily choice to start over and try again with God. There is grace in our growth process.

So this weekend we encourage you to take a deep breath, give yourself permission to start over and embrace the journey He has you on. He will complete the work He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6)!
