Jesus taught us to forgive as we have been forgiven. For Jesus, forgiveness is of paramount importance. How can we expect to receive Christ’s forgiveness when we are unable to forgive one another.
The Scripture says in Philippians 2:8, “Jesus humbled Himself and became obedient.” It doesn’t say He was obedient because He was so strong-willed, so righteous.
God always did the right thing. Even Jesus had to humble Himself. It takes humility to walk in obedience. His humility is why He could hang on the cross and say, “Father, forgive them, they don’t know what they’re doing.” His humility is why He could spend His life serving others when He had every right to be served.
It’s time to forgive; it’s time to release the hurt. This is a new day. God will make things beautiful in your life as you forgive. You’re not only helping them; you’re also helping yourself. Make your decision. Tell your child, parent, or friend that you need them and that you value them.
God didn’t put them in your life by accident. The mercy you show them is the mercy that’s going to be shown you. Life is short; time is flying by. They’re not always going to be here.
You may have made mistakes, we all have, but God is saying, “You’re forgiven.” Why don’t you forgive yourself if He forgives you?
You’ll never get your ‘one more time’ if you keep berating yourself, reliving your failures, and lingering on disappointments. Get rid of it. This is the start of a new day.
When God tells us to forgive someone it’s for our own benefit, so we need to obey Him and forgive often and quickly.
You will be in perfect peace if you keep your mind and trust in God. Jesus said He gave us His peace. We need to take it and enjoy it.
