Joel Osteen (November-25-2021) Daily Devotion: Double For Your Trouble.
Joel Osteen teaches you the key to being a bounce back person. Studies prove that during a hurricane, a palm tree will simply stretch and not break from the strong winds. It’s bent and pushed over all the while its’ root system is actually being strengthened and given new opportunities for growth. That is the same way we were built to be. It even says in Psalm 92:12, “The righteous will flourish like a palm tree.” That means God knew there would be difficult times in our lives, that things would come against us, trying to steal our joy, peace and victory. He’s not surprised by our difficulties, but rather knew ahead of time and equipped us with everything you need in Him! Because we have strong roots, we are going bounce right back. The storms in life will come. The winds will blow. But no weapon formed against us will prosper!
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: Instead of your shame you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance. And so you will inherit a double portion in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours. Isaiah 61:7, NIV
TODAY’S WORD: When this Scripture was written, God’s people were going through a very dark time. They were being held captive against their will and mistreated by other nations. God sent this word to encourage them and give them hope for their future. When the time came, God was faithful to His Word!
Are you going through a difficult time today? Let this word bring you encouragement, too. God wants to give you double for your trouble. He is the God of restoration—that means He’s not going to just repay you for every wrong done, He’s going to go above and beyond and make things even better than they were before. If you are facing challenges today or going through a time of adversity, remember that it’s always darkest just before the dawn. Your days are destined to shine brighter because God is faithful. As you stay in faith and are obedient to His Word, you’ll receive double for your trouble and the blessings He has in store for you!
Isaiah said, “Because you have two doses of trouble, your inheritance on earth will be doubled, and your joy will continue forever. “God doesn’t promise we won’t get into trouble. Sometimes we’ll have a double dose, more than our fair share. But the good news is that trouble has no final sentence. Betrayal, illness, loss is not how your story ends. God promises that He won’t just help you get through it, help you survive it. He’ll bring you out with double: double the fun, double the strength, double the influence, double the resources.
PRAYER FOR TODAY: “God, thank You for Your Word which lights my path and guides my steps. I choose to put my trust and hope in You today. Thank You for bringing restoration into my life as I keep my heart and mind stayed on You in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
Not only does God give us the strength to bounce back, but He promises to restore in our lives double what we may have lost. This is a promise found in Zechariah 9:12. “Return to your fortress, you prisoners of hope; even now I announce that I will restore twice as much to you.” That means nothing happens to you in life. No, with God things happen for you. Every setback positions you for a setup. What was meant for your harm God is going to use for your good.
