Joyce Meyer is the president of Joyce Meyer ministries and the wife of Dave Meyer whom she has 4 Children named Laura Marie Holtzmann, Sandra Ellen McCollom, Daniel B. Meyer, and David Meyer. The novelist and televangelist, who has published several books, lives outside of St. Louis, Missouri, but her ministry is based in Fenton, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis.

  3. Joyce started as a local Bible teacher in 1976, then became an associate pastor of a church in St. Louis, Missouri in 1980. She became an ordained minister in 1981. In 1985 her ministry was titled “Life in the Word”.
  4. Meyer’s fan base wasn’t always worth a million dollars. According to Born Rich, she began preaching in a cafeteria in the 1970s, conducting an early morning Bible class.
  5. Joyce Meyer Divorced Her First Husband After 5 Years Of Marriage.
  6. She maintains that her divorced husband persuaded her to steal payroll checks from her employer which she did.
  7. After her divorce, Meyer frequented local bars before meeting Dave Meyer, an engineering draftsman who is a veteran of the United States army.
  8. Meyer states that she returned the money she stole from her employer years later.
  9. Meyer was briefly a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in St. Louis.
  10. In 2002, mainstream publisher Hachette Book Group paid Meyer over $10 million for the rights to her backlist catalog of independently released books.

By 2003, Joyce’s ministry grew by leaps and bounds and soon she was teaching citywide, statewide, countrywide, and now worldwide through Joyce Meyer Ministries, and her television, radio, and magazine titles were changed to “Enjoying Everyday Life”. She teaches on hundreds of subjects based on her experience and how she applies the Bible to every facet of her life.
  12. Time magazine selected her as one of the most influential evangelical leaders in America in 2005. Joyce does not consider herself a televangelist or an evangelist. She considers herself a Bible teacher.
  13. Oral Roberts University, a recognized university in Tulsa, Oklahoma, has awarded Meyer an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity.
  14. Meyer’s program was canceled by KNLC, a Christian television station in St. Louis, in 2004 because of her “excessive lifestyle” and her beliefs that frequently went “beyond Scripture.”
